The People behind Using Our Heads

The Board of Directors of the Ontario Innovation Trust would like to express its deepest appreciation to the 1,250 grantees of the Trust. Without their research projects, there would be nothing on which to report. The Board also wishes to thank the Province of Ontario for its strong support of scientific research and innovation, Premier Dalton McGuinty for his leadership and vision and the Honourable John Wilkinson for his energetic advocacy on behalf of innovation.

The Project Team would like to thank the following Board members who supported this initiative: Ian D. Clark, Phillip Howell, Janet Mason, Rick Miner, George Ross, Bette M. Stephenson and Calvin R. Stiller - Chairman. Recognition should also be given to the following former members of the OIT Board for their vision and guidance in the early stages of its mandate: Michael Gourley, Sheldon Levy, David Lindsay, Gerry McGuire, Tim McTiernan, J. Robert S. Prichard, Bryne Purchase and the late David Smith.

We wish to recognize the valuable comments made on the current innovation environment here in Ontario by the following persons who possess a broad understanding of the socio-economic impact of research and innovation: Alan Bernstein, David Crane, Nils Petersen, John Evans, Chaviva Hosek, Mike Lazaridis, Richard A. Murphy, Gordon Nixon, Mark Poznansky, Bonnie Schmidt, Lou Siminovitch and Calvin R. Stiller. All these contributions were given with the hope of continuing the momentum of this success story.

Important contributions were made by the following members of the Editorial Board: Alan Bernstein, David Bogart, Kenneth W. Knox, Richard A. Murphy, Mark Poznansky, Nils Petersen and Calvin R. Stiller - all ably assisted by coordinator Sonya Scarrow.

Sparkplug Marketing & Communications Inc. deserves high credit for its development of the book, packaging, design and creative direction.

Finally, the project would not have succeeded without the tireless efforts of Mark Poznansky who spearheaded the endeavour and brought it to fruition.
